The old city of Berat, lies on the coast of Osumi and is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the middle ages it was the border city of the Byzantine Empire, a fact that also testifies to the castle of the city”. Houses built on top of each other, which no painter could put so beautifully, have given the name Of The City of One On One Windows. The alleys of these neighborhoods are paved with cobblestone, where Berat masters have left the stonework to the younger generations.

The walls of the houses are built of carved stones where they shine from the whiteness of lime. The fresh air of the surrounding pines, their evergreen, olive-clad hills, beautiful and ancient mosques in the city center, where among the most famous are the King Mosque (1512) The Plumb Mosque (1555), the Mosque of The Berat (1827) and the Mosque of Celebi Hysen Pasha, in the Murat Celepias neighborhood, are testimony that Berat citizens like all other citizens of Albania live in harmony with the each other without any distinction of religion.
